DePauw Athletics Hall of Fame
Rachel Gill earned second team all-America honors in 2008 as a catcher and was an all-region choice all four years. The 2007 and 2009 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year was a four-time first-team all-conference selection and a three-time SCAC all-tournament team honoree. Gill still holds the DePauw career batting average record of .421 and the single-season mark of .473. In 2007, she led the SCAC and set the DePauw single-season records with 69 hits and 51 runs batted in and still ranks second in both categories. She still tops the SCAC record books with 158 career RBI and 211 hits, each second in DePauw history. Gill helped the Tigers to NCAA appearances all three years with the 2007 team advancing to the national finals and finishing in a tie for fifth. She was named to the SCAC’s 30th anniversary softball team in 2021.
Following graduation, Gill obtained a Bachelor of Science in Human Science, a master’s degree in Sports Science and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. She has worked as a chiropractor in many different capacities and currently works in functional medicine. Gill is a professional softball instructor and youth softball coach. She’s coached high school softball for 10 years at her alma mater, Incarnate Word Academy, and led them to their first final four appearance. She is a director of the nationally-recognized St. Louis Chaos youth softball organization where she develops youth athletes and prepares them to achieve their goals. The Chaos have won a national championship along with a second and third-place finish in other years.
