John Cook qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships all four years and earned 18 all-America honors including eight in individual events and 10 as a member of a relay. He finished in the top eight in the nation in two individual events and six relays and was a member of the 200 free relay that finished second, nationally, which is the highest national relay finish in program history. A three-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year, Cook was the SCAC Swimmer of the Meet in 2009. Overall, he won six individual SCAC championships and set school and SCAC meet records in three individual events and as part of four relays. He was part of four SCAC championship teams and currently shares the 50 free program record and holds the 100 free mark. In 2020, he was selected to the SCAC’s 30th anniversary men’s swimming and diving team for the years 2005-20. Cook was the 2010 co-recipient of DePauw’s Phil Eskew Award.

Following graduation, Cook lived in Kansas City, Milwaukee and Chicago before moving to San Diego in 2016 and starting a career with Stryker. He continues to swim and compete with the Mission Viejo Nadadores, a Masters team in Mission Viejo, Calif. Cook and his wife, Allison, are the parents to Samantha and Colton.
