Dr. John M. Cassady (Class of 1960) earned a B.A.in Chemistry. After receiving a Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry from Case-Western Reserve University, he worked as a faculty researcher at the University of Wisconsin, Purdue University, Ohio State and Oregon State University. Cassady is the author of more than 150 manuscripts and abstracts on cancer research.

A three year letterman, Cassady earned all-Indiana Collegiate Conference first team honors as a senior and was a second team selection as a junior. He led the team in earned run average as a junior and senior and his 1.20 ERA in 1960 was a school record and still ranks fourth in school history at the time of his induction. He also led the team with 52 1/3 innings and four complete games in 1960, while posting a 4-1 record. That year the Tigers posted the best baseball record at DePauw since 1914 and competed in the NCAA College Division Mideast Regional.

Cassady and his wife, Nancy, reside in Columbus, OH. They have five children and fifteen grandchildren.
