Smith, Stowe, Koon, and Patterson Claim 3rd in 200 Freestyle Relay

Granville, Ohio - Through the third full day of competition at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, DePauw has totaled 890.5 points (adding 174.5 points) and is third among the eight competing schools. Kenyon leads with 1,300 points and is followed by Denison (1,153).

Leading the way was Friday's 100-yard butterfly with Emily Knott (57.20)  and Priscilla Smith leading the Tigers. DePauw claimed 99 points in the event. 

Cora Gilbert claimed 4th in the following event, the 400-yard individual medley, swimming a 4:35.24 and contributing 29 points to the 73 gained in the event. 

Heading into sprint events, Edie Patterson swam a 1:52.90 in the 200-yard freestyle to claim 26 points for 7th place. Tigers tallied 79 points in the event. 

McKenzie Ortolano finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke to collect 22 points, 49 points for the Tigers overall. 

Switching to backstroke, Caroline Stowe secured a ninth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke for 24 points. The women recorded 55.5 points in the event. Gabby Koon (1:00.58) tied for 12th in the event. 

Finishing with the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Tigers A-team featured Smith, Stowe, Koon, and Patterson to claim 3rd in 1:34.66, collecting 60 points and making the NCAA B-Cut by .27 of a second.

Tigers tallied 174.5 points in the pool on day three. 

The NCAC Championships conclude tomorrow at Denison University.
