Indianapolis, Ind. - Edie Patterson and Cora Gilbert competed in one event each for the last day of the NCAA DIII Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday.
Starting with women's 200 backstroke prelims for the 10 a.m. session, Cora Gilbert finished second in the third heat, clocking a time of 2:02.12 after entering the pool with a seed time of 2:02.21. She moved from 30th in seeding to 21st in prelim results and rebroke her own school record.
Sophomore Edie Patterson swam in heat two of four for the 1650 freestyle, placing 1st in the first round out of 18 with a time of 16:56.34 after entering with a seed time of 17:07.66.
Heading into finals at 6:00 p.m. Patterson could make the top 8, or finish 9th depending on the performance on the top eight seeds. After the evening heats, Edie came in fifth for the 1650 freestyle, earning her First Team All-American honors in addition to her Second Team All-American honors for the 500 freestyle.
