Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw's Edie Patterson ( So., Valparaiso, Ind., Valparaiso) has qualified for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships and begins competition on Wednesday, March 18th.

Patterson qualified with her 500-yard freestyle time of 4:59.43 and her 1,650-yard freestyle time of 17:07.66. The 500 freestyle takes place on Wednesday and Patterson will also swim the 1,650 freestyle on Saturday. 

Cora Gilbert is currently first alternate with her 200-yard backstroke time of 2:02.21. Diving regionals take place this weekend, and alternates will be added as competing schools alternate spots from swimmers to divers. 

The championships will be held March 18-21 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Franklin College, the Indiana Sports Corporation and the IU Natatorium will serve as hosts. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the championships.

Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers will be determined by performances achieved at the regional diving meets Feb. 27-28. The complete list of all swimmers competing in the championships is available online at ncaa.org. Selected divers will be added to the website Monday, March 2.
