DePauw Bows Out of NCAC Tournament

Granville, Ohio - DePauw trimmed a six-goal deficit to three late in the second period, but Denison scored the last goal of the first half and all four in the third period and pulled away for a 15-10 win over the Tigers in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal.

DePauw dropped to 11-4, while the Big Red advanced to the tournament championship game and improved to 11-5.

Marley Heitman's free-position goal just 1:04 into the contest gave the Tigers the lead, but Denison responded with a string of seven-straight scores before Emma Kennedy closed the gap to 7-2 after scoring with just eight seconds left in the opening period.

The Tigers closed to within 9-6 after Kennedy's fourth goal of the game before Denison scored with 22 seconds left in the period. The Big Red outscored the Tigers, 4-0, in the third to push the lead to 14-6. DePauw outscored Denison, 4-1, in the fourth including the final three.

Kennedy led the Tigers with five goals, while Casey McTague led Denison with five.

Kennedy led DePauw with seven draw controls and Caroline Simon totaled three ground balls and two caused turnovers.  

Lydia Hollis totaled 13 saves for DePauw and Caroline O'Dea finished with 11 in 45 minutes for Denison.

McTague paced Denison with six draw controls with Brooksey Perrin Hee leading with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Denison outshot, DePauw, 33-23 and held a 15-14 edge in draw controls and 21-12 in ground balls.
