Tigers Fall to Owls in Conference Match Up

Greencastle, Ind. - The women's lacrosse team fell to the Kenyon Owls with a final score of 19-7. Moving the Tigers to 2-4 in conference and 6-9 overall.

The Tigers struck first in the third minute with a goal by Rosalie Tasker, but the Owls quickly struck back with a run of six goals, spread between six different goal scorers. Delena Underwood scored a goal for the Tigers to break the streak, but Kenyon responded with another run of three goals to finish out the quarter with a score of 9-2, Kenyon.

The Owls continued their momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Tigers 5-1 in the quarter, with a Tiger goal coming again from Tasker. DePauw headed into halftime trailing by 11, 14-3.  

The third quarter was more back-and-forth, as the Tigers kept close with Kenyon's offense, the Tigers scoring two goals to Kenyon's three, with Tasker's third goal of the day and a goal for Maya Zalewski.

With the score at 17-5 going into the final quarter, Delana Underwood scored her second goal of the day 40 seconds into the quarter, and Kai Coffee tallied one with five minutes left in the game. Still, Kenyon matched with two goals, each following the Tiger goals. Making the final score 19-7.

DePauw's goalkeeper, Niamh Callahan, totaled 15 saves on the day. Kenyon's goalkeepers, Meagan Lacombe, had three saves in the first half, and Persia Shipman recorded one save in the second half.

DePauw totaled 13 shots to Kenyon's 38; the Tigers had nine turnovers compared to Kenyon's 10. The Tigers were 9 of 14 for clearing the ball, while Kenyon was 7 of 8 for clearing. The Tigers fell behind in the ground ball game with 10 total ground balls to Kenyon's 23, and totaled 5 draw controls on the day compared to Kenyon's 24.

With the loss, DePauw falls to 6-9 and 2-4 in conference. Their next game is away on Wednesday, April 22nd, at Denison.
