Tigers Fall 14–13 to OWU in Closing Minutes

Greencastle, Ind. - Women's lacrosse fell short to Ohio Wesleyan, 14-13, with the go ahead goal at 3:55 in the fourth quarter.

The Battling Bishops opened the scoring with a goal less than two minutes into play, delivered by Brie Colangelo unassisted.

Tigers retaliated with two consecutive goals tallied by junior Kate Leone, claiming the lead for DePauw 2-1. OWU answered with two before Rosalie Tasker tied it up 3-3 to end the first quarter.

Tasker recorded her second of the night, doubling up on unassisted goals to put the Tigers ahead 4-3. The battle went back and forth, giving Tasker three in a row for DePauw before the Tigers pulled ahead with a three point run, 8-5. OWU's Colangelo went neck and neck with the Tigers to try and cut the lead to 9-7 going into halftime, favoring the Tigers.

Heading into the second half, the two teams remained even keel, Tigers opened scoring and managed to extend the lead after one goal from the Bishops.

At the end of the third, OWU started to gain momentum tallying two consecutive goals to cut the lead to two goals. Delana Underwood rallied, notching another for the Tigers before the Battling Bishops went on a four goal streak to pull ahead in the final four minutes of regulation to put pressure on the Tigers.

Kate Leone gave the Tigers their best chance to tie it up and head into overtime with a free-position shot that went just wide of the net with 1:23 left. OWU ran down the clock as the Tigers fought to regain possession of the ball for another scoring opportunity.

Rosalie Tasker and Kate Leone walked away with hat tricks. Tasker tallied five points (4g, 1a) while Leone had four (3g, 1a). Delana Underwood and Kai Coffee each forced two caused turnovers. Kinsey McAleece collected three fouls in the game.

In goal, Niamh Callahn made eight saves for the Tigers.
