Granville, Ohio- The DePauw men's tennis team fell to No. 25 Kenyon College in its North Coast Athletic Conference Semifinals matchup 5-2, dropping to 12-9 overall, while the Lords improved to 13-7 on the season.
Kenyon took a 1-0 lead over DePauw after Christophe Leblanc and Henry Wessel defeated Hudson Mosher and Chase Hutchinson in a tight 8-6 victory at number three. The Tigers' Wyatt Metzger and Thomas Partridge responded with another close match, beating Luis Andres Platas and Eric Zhang 8-7 at number one. The Lords would jump back in the lead after Thomas Kallarakal, and Rishil Kondapeneni beat Cole Metzger and Ryan McCook 8-7 (7-1) at number two.
In singles play, Kenyon's Henry Wessel extended the Lords' lead to two after defeating Jake Watson 6-1, 6-1 at number six. At number three, Cole Metzger would get the Tigers back in striking distance with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Thomas Kallarakal. Kenyon would go up 4-2 after Rakkan Audeh beat Ryan McCook 6-4, 6-1 at number five, and Eric Zhang would clinch the victory for the Lords after he beat Gordian Bruns 6-3, 7-5 at number four.
The Tigers play for third place on Sunday, April 24, against The College of Wooster tomorrow at noon EDT.
