Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's lacrosse team pulled off a big 23-3 victory over Hiram on its senior day, improving to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in conference play, while the Terriers dropped to 3-9 for the season.
The Tigers shut out the Terriers 9-0 in the first half, and although DePauw gave up three goals in the second half, they almost doubled their goal total with 14 more goals in the second half.
Connor Gibson led the Tigers' scoring, who tied the single-game program record with eight goals while tallying two assists. Beckett Tasker finished the afternoon with five goals and one assist, followed by Chris Schaefer with four goals and three assists. Jack Flynn and Danny Karbowski tallied two goals apiece, with Karbowski leading DePauw in assists (5). Jack Kneisley and Noah Curland would put in the final two goals to round out the Tigers' scoring frenzy.
DePauw outshot Hiram 59-20, gathered 46 ground balls to the Terriers 25, and won 18 of 28 face-offs. The Tigers' defense caused 18 turnovers, with Charlie Rodriguez causing three. In goal, Patrick Lawton tallied three saves, while fellow senior Jack Gruchacz recorded five saves.
The Tigers' next game is Tuesday, April 26, where DePauw will host the Wittenberg University Tigers at 7 pm EDT.
