Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw women's lacrosse team fell to Denison University 17-7 in its second NCAC loss of the season. The Big Red's scoring surge in the first period and fresh legs throughout the matchup proved too much for the Tigers to come back from as time expired. DePauw moves to 10-3 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC, while Denison improves to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
The Big Red got on the board first after four minutes of play, but the Tigers' Caleigh Claar, with an assist from Bridget Driscoll, tied the game at one apiece. Unfortunately for DePauw, Denison would go on a 5-1 run and stretch its lead to 10 by the third period.
DePauw's Claar and Emma Kennedy led the Tigers with two goals each. Driscoll, Graesen Campbell, and Maggie Little all put in a goal of their own, while Bria Randolph finished the night with two assists. Defensively Emily Howard and Caroline Simon combined for seven of DePauw's 13 caused turnovers.
Lydia Hollis recorded eight saves in goal, four of which came in the third period. Denison's Maeve Caldwell and Caroline O'Dea finished the night with four saves.
The Tigers collected 12 draw controls to the Big Red's 16 and were outshot 31-22; however, DePauw held Dension to just 4 of 11 in successful free position attempts throughout regulation.
DePauw returns to Reavis Stadium on Saturday, April 23, to play Oberlin College at noon.
