DePauw Win Streak Ends at Seven in Battle of NCAC Unbeatens

Gambier, Ohio - In a matchup of the final two undefeated squads in North Coast Athletic Conference play, Kenyon scored six goals in the third period and held on for a 9-8 win over DePauw. The loss ended the Tigers' seven-game win streak as they dropped to 10-2 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC. The Ladies improved to 11-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.

Kenyon needed just 47 seconds to open the scoring ad Ella Murphy gave the hosts the early lead, but DePauw closed the opening period with scores from Emma Kennedy, Bridget Driscoll and Graesen Campbell. Bria Randolph's score with 11:54 left in the first half gave DePauw a 4-1 advantage.

Murphy scored twice in a 35-second span in the middle of the second before Driscoll and Kennedy extended DePauw's halftime lead to 6-3.

Kenyon's comeback started with 9:44 left in the third as Emma Hutchinson scored on a free-position shot before Murphy, Mallory Brophy and Caroline O'Neil each added goals to give the Ladies a 7-6 lead with 3:33 remaining in the third. Caleigh Claar stopped the run with 2:57 left in the third, but Kenyon scored 41 seconds later and again with 1:38 remaining in the third to extend the lead to 9-7.

The teams battled through a scoreless fourth until Kennedy scored with 4:55 left for the game's final goal.

Kennedy led DePauw with three goals and Driscoll added two, while Murphy paced Kenyon with four goals.

Lydia Hollis recorded nine saves for the Tigers including five in the fourth period with Kenyon's Nola Garand turning away four DePauw shots.

Kenyon held a narrow 11-10 advantage in draw controls as Maddie Garner totaled five and Kennedy paced DePauw with five. The Tigers led in ground balls, 16-15, with Bella Beg finishing with three for DePauw and Brett Bearrows pacing Kenyon with three.

Kenyon outshot DePauw, 26-20, and committed 21 turnovers to the Ladies' 15. The Tigers' Emily Howard caused two turnovers and Kenyon's Garner and O'Neill each caused three.

DePauw hosts Denison on Wednesday, April 20, at 6 p.m.
