Box Score Crawfordsville, Ind. - DePauw snapped its five-game losing streak and collected its first North Coast Athletic Conference win of the season with an 18-1 victory at Wabash. The Tigers improved to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC, while the Little Giants dropped to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Chris Schaefer scored just 49 seconds into the contest on an assist from Beckett Tasker for the first of eight first-period goals as the Tigers outshot Wabash, 17-1. DePauw led 12-0 at halftime and extended it to 15-0 before the Little Giants scored their lone goal with 3:51 left in the third.
Schaefer paced DePauw with four goals, while Tasker and Henry White each added two. Schaefer assisted on six goals. Ethan Stonis scored Wabash's only goal.
Patrick Lawton recorded two saves in goal for DePauw, while Jack Gruchacz totaled five. Matthew Hendrick stopped eight DePauw shots.
DePauw outshot Wabash, 52-18, including 26-8 on goal. DePauw won 16-of-22 faceoffs including a 14-of-17 performance for Matthew Roman. Roman led the Tigers with six ground balls as DePauw held a 35-26 advantage.
The Tigers committed 17 turnovers to Wabash's 21 and DePauw was successful on 19 of 20 clear attempts.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 16, when it hosts Oberlin at 1 p.m.
