DePauw Extends Win Streak to Five; Sets Program Record for Wins

Whittier, Calif. - DePauw outscored host Whittier, 5-1, over the final 7:52 of the first half to snap a 4-4 tie and the Tigers never trailed the rest of the way as they extended their win streak to five with a 15-9 win over the Poets. DePauw moved to 8-1 and set the program record for wins in a season, while Whittier dropped to 5-5. The previous wins record was seven in both 2015 and 2017 and the five-game win streak is also the longest in program history.

Whittier grabbed an early 3-1 lead before DePauw scored three straight. After the Poets tied the contest at 4-4, DePauw took a 9-5 lead into halftime with a pair of goals in the final 1:27.

The Poets got as close as three at 10-7, but Emma Kennedy scored the final two goals of the third and Bria Randolph added one in the opening two minutes of the fourth to push the lead to 13-7.

Kennedy led the Tigers with six goals, while Randolph and Bridget Driscoll each added three. Driscoll also assisted on a pair. 

Payton Climer led the Poets with four goals, while Georgia Bachiochi added three.

DePauw outshot Whittier, 37-19, and committed just 12 turnovers to the Poets' 18. The Tigers held a 16-9 edge in draw controls and led in ground balls, 44-27. 

Kennedy led DePauw with 12 draw controls and Driscoll totaled nine ground balls. Loren Sepulveda led Whitter with four draw controls and seven ground balls.

Lydia Hollis picked up the win in goal after recording four saves, while Haley Hughes-Gill took the loss while stopping 10 DePauw shots. 

The Tigers travel to Earlham on Wednesday, April 6, for a 7 p.m. contest.
