Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw men's tennis team beat the Wittenberg University Tigers 8-1 at home, improving to 5-5 overall, while Wittenberg moves to 4-5.
DePauw got on the board first with Hudson Mosher and Chase Hutchinson defeating Joe Patton and Roy Jensen 8-1 at number three, followed by Cole Metzger and Ryan McCook beating Jake Stockhausen and Kyle Fout 8-2 at number two. Wyatt Metzger and Thomas Partridge defeated Brayden Kopp and John DeVito 8-5 at number one, completing the doubles sweep.
Playing number three singles, Cole Metzger beat Jake Stockhausen 6-1, 6-2, followed by DePauw's Jake Watson, who defeated Ethan Libby 6-2, 6-0 at number five, clinching the team victory for the DePauw Tigers.
In the remaining four matches, Wyatt Metzger beat John DeVito 6-3, 6-2 at number two, and Thomas Partridge beat Brayden Kopp 6-2, 6-2 at number one. At number four, Wittenberg got on the board after Joe Patton defeated DePauw's Gordian Bruns 6-4, 6-4; however, the DePauw Tigers came back with one more win at number six after Will Sultan beat Mark Trinka 6-2, 6-4.
On Saturday, March 19, DePauw travels to Oberlin to play the Yeomen at 2 pm EDT.
