Tigers Open Season with Win over Carthage

Greencastle, Ind. - A stretch of six-straight goals that bridged the second and third quarters propelled DePauw to an 11-6 win over Carthage in the season opener for both schools at Reavis Stadium.

Carthage took a quick 1-0 lead just 1:17 into the contest, but DePauw responded with goals from Emma Kennedy and Graesen Campbell. The Firebirds scored the next two before Bria Randolph and Katie Field rounded out the first half with a pair of scores to give the Tigers a 4-3 halftime advantage.

DePauw outscored Carthage, 3-0, in the third and extended the lead to 8-3 early in the fourth. The Firebirds were within three, but the Tigers closed the game on a 3-1 run.

Kennedy led DePauw with three goals, while Field and Randolph added two each. Randolph assisted on four in the win. Rachel Harris led Carthage with three goals.

Lydia Hollis recorded five saves in the win, while Alessandra Almendarez had 10 stops for the Firebirds.

DePauw outshot Carthage, 36-18 and led in ground balls, 15-12.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, February 26, with a 3 p.m. CST game at Elmhurst.
