Box Score Granville, Ohio- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team tally its first NCAC West loss today, after falling 16-5 to the Denison University Big Red.
The Big Red got an early jump on the Tigers, going up 3-0 in the first five minutes of play. DePauw eventually found the back of Denison's net minutes later off a goal by Grace Clarke, who gathered a pass from Anna Chinni.
In the ninth minute of the first half, Caleigh Ranjo found Emily Napier, who scored the Tigers' second goal of the half. In the first half, Denison outshot DePauw 11-34 and managed to shut down the Tigers' three free-position shots.
Despite being down by 14 with over 13 minutes left in regulation, the Tigers managed to keep the Big Red scoreless while putting in three goals of its own to bringing the final score 16-5.
DePauw allowed just three of Denison's 11 free position shots in goal, tallied 16 total saves, and grabbed 11 of the 23 total draw controls between the two halves.
Clarke would finish the game with a hat trick and an assist, while Napier and Graesen Campbell each tallied a goal.
The Tigers move to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference divisional play.
