Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team beat the Wittenberg Tigers 18-4 for a big win on senior day.
Within the first 40 seconds of regulation, Wittenberg found the back of DePauw's goal; however, that 1-0 lead would be the only lead the Wittenberg Tigers would hold over DePauw.
The Tigers would start an 8-1 goal run two minutes later, taking a commanding lead in the first half. In the first half, the DePauw Tigers outshot Wittenberg 25-11 and tallied seven saves.
By the end of the first half, DePauw was up 12-2, with six different players with goals and a total of 16 caused turnovers.
It was a closer game in the second half, with DePauw putting in just six goals in the half off of 14 shots. Wittenberg's aggressive play in the second half held the DePauw Tigers to just one successful free-position shot and four draw controls.
Despite Wittenberg's efforts in the second half, DePauw's first-half lead was too much of a deficit to make up.
Grace Clarke and Emma Kennedy led the team in goals, with six and five, respectively. Caleigh Ranjo and Tori Salanty finished with two goals apiece, while Anna Chinni, Emily Howard, and Graesen Campbell each put in a goal. Campbell also led the team with three assists.
Defensively Riley deVarennes caused five turnovers and finished the night leading the team with five draw controls.
DePauw improves to 4-0 in the NCAC West and 6-3 overall. The Tigers' next game is Wednesday, April 21, against Denison at 5 pm.
