Box Score Springfield, Ohio- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team moved to 3-0 in conference play after beating the Wittenberg University Tigers 16-7 on the road.
The DePauw Tigers, within the first five minutes of play, were up two to zero off goals by Grace Clarke and Emma Kennedy.
By the end of the first half, two more DePauw Tigers added to the first-half total of nine goals while holding Wittenberg to just two for the half.
In the second half's opening minutes, Wittenberg would put two goals to cut the lead almost in half. Responding quickly, the DePauw Tigers strung four goals in six minutes to put a stop to any opportunity for the Wittenberg Tigers to claw back.
Allowing just three more goals in the half, DePauw finished the game on top, following a dominating performance on both ends of the field.
The DePauw Tigers outshot Wittenberg 42-20 across the game, won 10 of the 12 draw controls in the first half, and would go a perfect 5-for-5 in free position shots in the first half. Defensively DePauw forced the Wittenberg Tigers to commit 34 turnovers and shut down all six of their free position attempts.
Clarke would finish the game with seven points off of six goals and one assist. Kennedy was second in scoring, putting in four goals, while teammate Bria Randolph earned a hat trick. Graesen Campbell would finish the night with two goals, and Caleigh Ranjo tallied a goal to bring the total to 16 goals.
Anna Chinni led the team in ground balls with five, and Riley deVarennes won seven of the 16 total draw controls for DePauw.
DePauw Tigers take on Wittenberg again on Saturday, April 17, at 2 pm in Reavis Stadium.
