Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team overpowered Ohio Wesleyan University in its 20-7 victory at home.
The DePauw Tigers finished tonight's game with seven different scorers, four of which had three or more goals, while the remaining three individuals scored no less than two.
Not letting an early goal in the opening minutes of play rattle them, the Tigers would go on a 10-1 goal run, quickly putting distance between themselves and the Battling Bishops.
In the first half, DePauw record 24 shots to Ohio Wesleyan's 11, resulting in 13 goals in the half.
Draw control dominance in the first half also played a large role in keeping the ball in the Battling Bishops half for the majority of play.
Defensively the Tigers held Ohio Wesleyan to 3 of 9 clears in the period and blanked the Battling Bishops in free-position shot attempts. Leading the defensive line with three caused turnovers was defender Abigail Lodge.
Up 13-2 going into the second, Graesen Campbell was leading the team with four goals.
In the second half, Ohio Wesleyan tried to turn up the offensive aggression; however, the Tigers' performance in the first half was too much to overcome.
By the end of regulation, Emma Kennedy would join Campbell with four goals and one assist. Both Grace Clarke and Riley deVarennes would finish the night with a hat trick and assists. Throughout the game, putting in six more goals were Emily Napier, Bria Randolph, and Tori Salanty with two goals apiece.
DePauw's next game is Saturday, March 27, at 2 pm EDT against Ohio Wesleyan.
