Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team held off the Transylvania University Pioneers in its 16-15 home opener win.
The Tigers put in three goals within the first five minutes of play and continued to find success around the circle.
In the first half, DePauw controlled seven of the 11 total draw controls and was 7-for-9 in clears while holding the Pioneers to just nine clears off of 15 attempts.
Though the Tigers finished the first half up 6-5, Transylvania did not allow DePauw to pull away in the second half.
In the second half, the Pioneers and the Tigers traded goals, each putting up 10 goals apiece.
Fortunately, DePauw's strong first half and some late success in draw controls during the last minute of the game were enough to pull off its first home win of the 2021 season and second win overall.
Leading the Tigers once again in goals was Grace Clarke, who finished the night with six goals and two assists. Teammates Tori Salanty and Emma Kennedy put in three goals apiece, with Emily Napier finishing the night with two of her own. Rounding out the evening's scoring was Bria Randolph and Maggie Little, who put in a goal each.
DePauw's next game is at home on Tuesday, March 23, at 5 pm EDT against Ohio Wesleyan.
