Crawfordsville, Ind.- The DePauw women's swimming and diving team dominated at the Pebworth Invitational, hosted by Wabash College, with 1353 points.
The Tigers recorded one first-place relay finish while finishing in the top-three relay times in four other events. Three individuals earned first-place finishes in the three-day invitational, with a total of 15 individual top-three finishes to close out the weekend.
Leading DePauw in individual finishes was Elise Umbach, who earned first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:07.82, and would go on to take second place in the 400-yd IM (4:31.70), 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.63), and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.04).
Tara Holder was the second Tiger to pull in the most top-three finishes, with three. Holder took first place in the 200-yard free (1:54.58), second in the 500-yard free (5:07.05), and third in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:54.68.
Rounding out the Tigers' first-place finishers was Molly Ruggles, who earned first place in two events. Ruggles took first in the 100-yard backstroke (58.05) and broke the meet record in the 100-yard IM (1:00.65), which she set in 2019, with a time of 1:00.50.
Sammie Waples tallied two top-three finishes, earning third in the 100-yard breast (1:07.11) and second in the 100-yard free (53.24). Other individual top finishers include Tarah Lang, who finished third in the 200-yard free (1:54.68), Maggie Perry swam the 50-yard free in 24.25 to take third, Mei-Li Minnich finished third in the 100-yard IM (1:02.70), while Megan Mackenzie took third in the 1650-yard free with a time of 18.25.68.
In the relays across the weekend, DePauw took first in the 200-yard free relay with Waples, Perry, Emily Kaiser, and Lang (1:36.69). The Tigers would go on to take second in the 200-yard medley relay with Ruggles, Umbach, Perry, and Claire Sweetwood (1:46.58), third in the 400-yard medley relay with Ruggles, Umbach, Perry, and Waples (4:00.91), and second in the 400-yard free relay with Holder, Perry, Lang, and Waples. In the final relay event of the invitational, DePauw finished second in the 800-yard free relay, swimming it in 7:56.42, with Holder, Mia Hagnauer, Maddie Dixon, and Lang.
The Tigers finished first of seven teams in the Pebworth Invitational and, on Friday, January 7, return to the pool deck at Rose-Hulman.
