Tigers Defeat Panthers in 17-3 Home Victory

Box Score

Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team records its third home win, after beating the Hanover College Panthers 17-3.

In the Tigers dominating win over the Panthers, seven different players scored off of six assists and four free position attempts. Leading DePauw's scoring efforts were midfielder Emma Kennedy with five goals, followed closely by midfielder Caleigh Ranjo with three of her own.

Within the first 24 seconds of the game, Kennedy would win control of the draw and score off an assist by Kate Flynn, who finished with four assists in the game.

Just five minutes later, Tori Salanty would put the Tigers up 2-0 off Flynn's second assist of the night.

Hanover would cut DePauw's lead in half with just over 15 minutes left in the first half, but the Tigers would respond quickly with goals by Abigail Lodge, Bria Randolph, Ranjo, and Kennedy; putting DePauw up 9-2 going into half time.

The Tigers before the second half outshot Hanover 23-to-6 and won nine of the 12 draws while committing just eight turnovers in the half.

In the second half of play, DePauw would hold the Panthers to just four shot attempts resulting in only one goal in the half.

Despite being down a player at the start of the second half, the Tigers played with confidence keeping the ball in Hanovers defensive side. Just a minute after coming off a penalty, Paige Miller would enter the game and go coast to coast to score the first goal of the second half putting DePauw up 10-2.

As time wound down the seventh Tiger of the game, Anna Chinni would score her first and second goals just four minutes apart from each other, giving DePauw a double-digit lead over the Panthers.

The success on the offensive side had a lot to do with the successful stops by Katheryn Hopkins in goal, in combination with the Tigers going 12-for-15 in successfully clearing the ball.

DePauw is back at Reavis Stadium this Saturday, March 7, at Noon to play in its first North Coast Athletic Conference matchup against Oberlin College.

I wanted a school that would challenge me both academically and athletically. I knew that DePauw would not only succeed in doing that but also prepare me for my future career.

DePauw was the perfect size with a strong Political Science program and the campus was gorgeous. When I spent the night with some of my potential teammates it felt just like home and I never wanted to leave.
