Tigers Overpower Colonels in 13-11 Comeback Win

Box Score

Danville, Ky.- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team's second-half scoring surge was just enough to beat the Centre College Colonels in its 13-11 road victory.

Coming off a tough conference loss to Oberlin this past weekend, the Tigers were seeking redemption on the road. Taking to the field knowing the caliber of play Centre brings to the game, DePauw was unfazed by a 3-0 deficit in the first five minutes of the game.

To stifle the Colonel's scoring run, Grace Clarke would get the Tigers on the board, giving life back into the DePauw offense.

Despite allowing three more goals in the half, the Tigers stayed in the game with goals by Caleigh Ranjo, Bria Randolph, and Tori Salanty.

Down 5-7 at the half DePauw came out ready to play, with Anna Chinni scoring the Tigers' sixth goal in just under a minute into the second half.

DePauw would hold the Colonels to just four goals in the second half, while the Tigers put on a shooting clinic.

At the 26-minute mark, Emma Kennedy would score not only the tying goal but the first of four for the night.

With eight minutes left in regulation, Paige Miller received a pass from Grace Clark to give the Tigers a 12-11 lead over Centre. Pushing through eight more minutes of play defensive stops in the midfield along with the 11 saves in the second half by Kathryn Hopkins kept DePauw on top.

Rounding out the second half scorers for the evening was Salanty, who scored the final goals of both the first and second half and finished the night with a hat trick!

A combination of team effort and capitalizing on every possession led to the Tigers comeback win over the Colonels.

DePauw moves to 4-2 for the season and travel to North Central College on Saturday, March 14, to face the Cardinals at 2 p.m. EDT.
