Box Score Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University women's lacrosse team falls 3-16 to the University of Chicago Maroons.
Taking the field with a 2-0 record, DePauw found itself down by three goals early in the first half.
Facing an aggressive zone defense and committing 21 turnovers in the first half, the Tigers would cut the Maroons 5-0 lead to four with a goal by Bria Randolph.
That goal gave DePauw the spark it needed on both the defensive and offensive end, for just five minutes later, Randolph would find Caleigh Ranjo for its second goal of the game, bringing the Tigers within three goals.
Over the last fifteen minutes of the half, DePauw managed to hold the Maroons to just one more goal before halftime.
Down 6-2 at the beginning of the second half, the Tigers fought hard for its six draw controls, matching the University of Chicago's six, while also decreasing its turnover total.
Despite going four-for-eight in successful ball clears, DePauw found itself down by double digits with just over 15 minutes left in regulation.
Not going down without a fight, the Tigers midfielder Paige Miller would tally DePauw's third goal of the game at the three-minute mark.
The Tigers move to 2-1 overall and are back at Reavis Stadium once again on Wednesday, March 4, to face Hanover at 7 p.m.
