Box Score Kenosha, Wis. - DePauw scored twice in the opening 1:20 of the fourth quarter to close to within one goal of host Carthage, but the Red Men scored three straight in a 2:28 stretch to take a 13-9 victory. The Tigers dropped to 0-2, while Carthage moved to 3-0.
Benjamin Herron and Dan McCauley each scored in the opening 2:29 to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead before Carthage countered at the 10:10 mark. Josh McClorey gave DePauw a 3-1 advantage with 8:58 left in the quarter, but Carthage scored four times in the final 7:34 to take a 5-3 lead at the quarter break.
The hosts made it 6-3 two minutes into the second before DePauw closed the halftime margin to 6-5 on scores from McClorey and Quinn Cashion.
Carthage struck early in the third with a pair of goals in the first 2:05 to expand the lead to 8-5. The teams exchanged scores in the final six minutes of the third with Nate Stadler and Will Roberts scoring for the Tigers to make it 10-7 after three.
Tyler McCoy and Patrick Durnien opened the fourth with goals in a 32-second span to close to within 10-9, but Carthage put the game away with three straight goals while holding DePauw scoreless over the final 13:40.
Eight different Tigers scored with McClorey leading the way with two. Noah Linder and Colin Poitras each scored five for Carthage.
DePauw won 20 of the 26 faceoffs including a 19-of-25 performance from Matthew Braun. The Tigers held a 43-33 edge in ground balls led by Braun's 11, but the Tigers committed 21 turnovers to 14 for the Red Men. Carthage held a 42-36 advantage in shots.
The Tigers travel to Capital on Feb. 29 for a 1 p.m. contest.
