Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Rhodes scored four times in the third quarter and pulled away from DePauw in a 10-5 win over the Tigers in the season opener for both teams.
The Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead on Will Roberts' unassisted goal five minutes into the contest before Rhodes countered with a pair of goals in a 42-second span later in the quarter. Roberts then assisted Patrick Durnien with 2:34 remaining in the quarter before the Lynx added a goal with nine seconds left for a 3-2 lead.
Rhodes expanded its lead to 5-3 on a pair of scores in the first 4:05, but DePauw trimmed the halftime deficit to 5-4 as Durnien and Tyler McCoy added scores.
The Lynx put together five straight goals to seal the win before Durnien added a third goal with just over one minute left in the contest.
Rhodes outshot DePauw, 40-30, and won 12 of the 18 faceoffs with a 35-26 advantage in ground balls.
DePauw travels to Carthage on Feb. 22 for a 1p.m. CST contest.
