Tigers Drop Tight Contest at Allegheny

Meadville, Pa. - Allegheny broke a 3-3 tie with a goal late in the first half before scoring the first three of the second half on the way to an 8-6 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while the Gators improved to 4-6 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC.

Allegheny later extended the lead to 8-4 before DePauw's Sophie Hensley added a pair of late scores.

Hensley's two goals led the Tigers with Caleigh Ranjo and Grace Clarke each assisting on two. Brenna Lawler paced the Gators with three goals. Taylor Vignieri and Alex Zielinski each scored a pair and Zielinski assisted on two.

Kathryn Hopkins recorded six saves for DePauw and Steph Shakespeare had 20 for Allegheny.

Emily Howard, Maeve Sheehan, Emma Kennedy and Sarah Congress each had five ground balls as the Tigers held a 33-21 edge. DePauw also held a 35-16 advantage in shots and was only able to convert 1 of 12 free-position shots.

DePauw host Wittenberg at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.
