Strong Second Half Sends DePauw to Win at Oberlin

Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw scored the first four goals of the second half and host Oberlin got no closer than three goals the rest of the way as the Tigers topped the Yeomen, 14-9. The Tigers moved to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while Oberlin dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in the NCAC.

Oberlin led, 4-3, after the first quarter, but DePauw gained a 7-6 halftime advantage. Joey Herron, Quinn Roddy and Tyler McCoy scored in the opening 4:15 of the third before Will Roberts added a score to put DePauw ahead, 11-6. The Yeomen closed to within 11-8, but DePauw scored three of the game's final four goals.

Nate Greenberg and Will Roberts each scored three for the Tigers with Roberts, Roddy and Steen Jorgensen assisting on a pair each. Jay Messina, Tom Decker and Griffin Cappelletti each scored three for the Yeomen.

DePauw's Luke Ruiz-Funes recorded 15 saves with Oberlin's Calvin Filson stopping 11 Tigers shots.

Oberlin held a 39-31 edge in shots with DePauw committing 28 turnovers to the Yeomen's 27 and the Tigers' Quinn Cashion recorded three caused turnovers. The Tigers won 14 of the 27 faceoffs with Joe Garvey leading with a 12-for-21 performance. 

DePauw also held a narrow 36-34 edge in ground balls as Joey Herron totaled eight in the win. 

The Tigers host Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
