Tigers Top Little Giants 8-1; Wrap up NCAC Divisional Play at 3-1

Crawfordsville, Ind. - DePauw evened its overall record to 9-9 and finished North Coast Athletic Conference West Division play at 3-1 after an 8-1 win over Wabash. The Little Giants dropped to 8-13 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play starting with the number-two team of Wyatt Metzger and Billy Louiselle taking an 8-3 win over Jordan Greenwell and Nieshaal Thambipillay. The third team of Alex Bertolini and Jack Monovich followed with an 8-3 victory over Duncan Roy and Evan Frank and the number-one tandem of Greg Frauenheim and Bryce McClanahan wrapped it up with an 8-7 (8-6) win over Patrick McAuley and Andrew Denning.

Monovich was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Frank at sixth singles before Metzger clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Greenwell at second singles.

Bertolini followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Roy at the fourth spot with Bryce McClanahan also claiming a 6-2, 6-2 win at third singles over Andrew Denning.

Wabash's point came at first singles as McAuley won the first set 6-1 before Frauheim retired after leading int he second set 3-2. Louiselle finished the match with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Thambipillay.

DePauw returns to action at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 26, in the opening round of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
