Wittenberg Pulls Away from DePauw in Second Half

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw held an 8-6 lead late in the first half of its North Coast Athletic Conference game with Wittenberg, but the visiting Tigers outscored DePauw 15-1 the rest of the way for a 21-9 victory. DePauw dropped to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg is 6-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

DePauw led for most of the first half with its largest lead coming at 7-4 after Grace Clarke scored with 12:20 left. Wittenberg's Katurah Emery scored with just 1:27 left in the half to even the score at 8-8.

Wittenberg opened the second half with five goals in the opening 6:28 before Emily Howard provided DePauw's only score of the half with 22:34 remaining.

Emma Kennedy led DePauw with five goals, while Josee Clayton paced Wittenberg with nine goals with Emily Wadds, Emery and Gabby Zysik each scoring three.

Kathryn Hopkins recorded 13 saves for DePauw, while Wittenberg's Joanna Stecz totaled 11 saves.

Wittenberg outshot DePauw, 43-21, with DePauw committing 24 turnovers to the guests' 29. Wittenberg, however, held a 24-7 advantage in draw controls.

Clarke led DePauw with four draw controls, while Tori Salanty had four ground balls and caused six turnovers.

DePauw travels to Denison on Saturday for a 3 p.m. NCAC contest.
