Late Goals Send DePauw to Defeat in NCAC Opener

Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin scored twice in the final five minutes and defeated DePauw, 12-10, in the Tigers' opening North Coast Athletic Conference game of the season. DePauw dropped tp 1-5 overall, while the Yeowomen are 3-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Oberlin took its biggest lead of the first half at 6-3 before Emily Howard's goal with 40 seconds left cut the halftime deficit to 6-4. Howard and Kate Flynn evened the score early in the second. The teams alternated goals throughout the second half. DePauw tied the contest at 10-10 on Emma Kennedy's score with 6:26 left before Sabrina Deleonibus put Oberlin ahead with 4:54 left and Kyra Aviles added the insurance score with 2:54 remaining.

Grace Clarke scored three and assisted on three more with Howard, Kennedy and Sophie Hensley each scoring a pair. Julie Mooney and Aviles each scored three for Oberlin.

Kathryn Hopkins stopped 12 shots for DePauw with Siena Marcelle totaling six saves for Oberlin and Maranada Phillips three.

Oberlin outshot DePauw, 36-26, and held an 18-7 advantage in draw contols. DePauw committed 23 turnovers to Oberlin's 26 and the Tigers led in ground balls, 22-16.

DePauw returns to action on Monday, March 25, with a 6 p.m. CDT contest against Berry at Sewanee.
