Centre's Quick Start Leads to Win over DePauw

Greencastle, Ind. - Centre scored the game's first five goals and never trailed on the way to a 16-10 win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 1-4, while the Colonels improved to 5-2.

Centre scored just 19 seconds into the contest and jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Sophie Hensley and Caleigh Ranjo closed the half with goals for DePauw as the Tigers cut the gap to 7-4 at halftime.

The Colonels expanded the lead to 12-5 with a 5-1 run over the opening 16:07 of the second half. Centre's largest lead was at 14-6 before the Tigers scored four of the next five to trim the deficit to 15-10.

Emma Kennedy paced DePauw with four goals with Grace Clarke and Hensley each adding a pair. Kennedy and Kate Flynn assisted on two goals each.

Bella Tacogue paced Centre with four goals with Hannah Hardy following with three. Hardy also assisted on four goals.

Kathryn Hopkins recorded 10 saves for DePauw with Lola Duff totaling five for Centre.

Centre outshot DePauw 35-27 and held a 34-19 lead in ground balls with DePauw winning 17 of the 28 draws. The Tigers committed 32 turnovers to Centre's 21/
