DePauw Picks Up Big NCAC Win at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio - DePauw outscored host Wooster, 8-3, in the second half and came away with a 13-8 North Coast Athletic Conference road victory over the Fighting Scots. The Tigers moved to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC, while Wooster dropped to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The Tigers blanked Wooster in the opening quarter and took a 2-0 lead on goals from Will Roberts and Nate Greenberg. DePauw held that lead until 11 seconds remained in the half as Wooster's Shaun Peirce evened the score at 5-5.

Ben Davis added a pair of third-quarter goals before Lewis Andrews made it 8-5 with 4:30 left in the period. Wooster's Joe Altieri cut the margin to two with 1:44 remaining in the third.

The teams traded scores early in the fourth, but DePauw extended the lead to 11-7 with 6:20 remaining as Greenberg and Roberts scored within 44 seconds of one another. The Tigers put the game away in the final minutes on scores from Steen Jorgensen and Ben Davis before the Fighting Scots closed out the scoring with 20 seconds remaining.

Jorgensen and Davis each scored three goals for the Tigers, while Greenberg added a pair. Ben Sherman led the squad with three assists. Peirce paced Wooster with five goals and Sam Kuhn assisted on four.

Charlie Robson stopped 20 Wooster shots in goal, while Wooster's Wesley Wagner finished with 10 saves.

DePauw's Joe Garvey won 15 of 25 faceoffs and led the Tigers with 11 ground balls. Altieri scooped up five ground balls for the hosts. Donny Bleifuss aided the DePauw defensive effort with five caused turnovers.

Wooster held a 48-36 edge in shots including 28-23 on goal, while the Tigers had a 38-36 advantage in ground balls. DePauw committed 23 turnovers to Wooster's 15. 

DePauw hosts Wittenberg on Wednesday, April 11, at 7 p.m.
