Men Ousted in First Round of NCAC Championships

Indianapolis, Ind. – The DePauw men's tennis team lost in the first round to Oberlin 5-1 in the 2018 NCAC Tennis Championships on Friday.

DePauw picked up the match's first win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles where Greg Frauenheim and Bryce McClanahan defeated Camron Cohen and Stephen Gruppuso. However, Oberlin would then take the next five flights to capture the win.

The No. 2 doubles team of Alex Bertolini and Sean Carroll lost 8-5, and the No. 3 team of Michael Kolbus and Jose Bonilla fell 8-3.

In singles play, McClanahan fell 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 flight; Kolbus fell 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 4 flight; and Daniel Kinas lost 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 5 flight. The remaining matches were left unfinished.

DePauw moves to 5-17, and they will move to the consolation side of the bracket with a 9 a.m. match on Saturday against Wabash.
