Box Score Delaware, Ohio - DePauw's first-ever appearance in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament ended in a 21-6 semifinal loss at Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers fnished the season at 7-11, while the ninth-ranked Battling Bishops advanced to the championship game and improved to 15-2.
Ohio Wesleyan's Alex Tennant scored four times in the opening 3:37 and the Bishops added three more before the Tigers reached the scoreboard. Tennant added two more in the final eight seconds of the period for a 10-2 lead.
The Battling Bishops outscored the Tigers, 4-0, in the second for a 14-2 halftime advantage. DePauw got no closer than 16-5 late in the third.
Jack Richey scored twice for the Tigers, while Tennant led Ohio Wesleyan with eight and added two assists.
Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 47-27, including 32-17 on goal. Charlie Robson recorded 11 saves for the Tigers, while five different goalies totaled 17 saves for the hosts.
DePauw won 16 of the 29 faceoffs with Joe Garvey finishing 16 of 26, but the Tigers committed 27 turnovers to Ohio Wesleyan's 22 and the Battling Bishops held a 40-26 edge in ground balls. Garvey paced the Tigers with nine ground balls and Donny Bleifuss caused three turnovers. Four different Bishops had four ground balls each with Jake Worrell totaling four caused turnovers.
