Tigers Drop Two in St. Louis

St. Louis, Mo. – The DePauw men's tennis team lost a pair of non-conference matchups this weekend, 5-4 to Texas-Tyler and 9-0 to WashU.

Against 29th-ranked UT-Tyler, DePauw jumped ahead 2-1 after doubles play. Greg Frauenheim and Bryce McClanahan at the No. 1 flight won 9-7, and Sean Carroll and Alex Pintilie at No. 3 won 8-5.

In singles, Frauenheim won after a retirement in the second set of his No. 1 match, and at No. 4 Alex Bertolini won 6-2, 6-1. DePauw's best chance to clinch the match came behind McClanahan at the No. 2 flight, but he lost 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. The remaining singles matches fell in straight sets.

UT-Tyler moved to 17-3 with the win.

Against 10th-ranked WashU (13-7), McClanahan moved up to the No. 1 flight as Frauenheim sat out. He pushed his opponent Johnny Wu to a second set tiebreaker but ultimately fell 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). The rest of the team fell in straight sets, and the No. 6 flight lost by default.

DePauw is 5-16 overall. They will head to Indianapolis next weekend for the NCAC Championships.
