Tigers Unable to Hold Early Lead in Loss to Cardinals

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but North Central tied the contest with three scores in a 40-second span and eventually won by a 12-10 count. The Tigers dropped to 0-3 on the season, while the Cardinals moved to 2-0.

The Tigers built the early 3-0 lead on a pair of goals from Sarah Ramsey and one from Erica Rapelje. North Central evened the contest at 3-3 with three scores in 40 seconds with the last coming with 11:52 left in the first. The teams then traded scores before the Cardinals gained the lead on Addie Records' goal with 2:57 remaining in the half.

North Central pushed the margin to four at 12-8 before Caleigh Ranjo and Olivia Miller delivered scores with 3:26 and 3:03 left, respectively.

Ramsey led the Tigers with four goals, while Caleigh Ranjo added two. Summer Asad recorded two assists in the win. Christina Truver had three scores for North Central with Nelle Scranton and Grace Steiner totaling two each. Jessica Deetjen assisted on a pair of scores.

Deetjen led North Central with 10 ground balls, while Abigail Lodge, Kathryn Hopkins and Marisa Ellison each had three for the Tigers.

Hopkins recorded 12 saves for the Tigers, while Camille Segheiso had two for North Central and Abigail Leers six.

North Central outshot the Tigers, 32-25, including 24-18 on goal. DePauw committed 28 turnovers to North Central's 29, but the Cardinals held a 53-29 edge in ground balls. North Central was successful on 15 of 21 clears and the Tigers on 17 of 30.

DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, March 7, when it travels to Illinois Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. CST contest.
