Titans Hand DePauw Fourth Straight Loss

Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Illinois Wesleyan broke an early 2-2 tie with three goals in the a 1:14 span late in the first and rolled to a 24-9 win at DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 3-6, while the Titans improved to 6-2.

After Illinois Wesleyan broke the early tie, they then went on to outscore the Tigers, 10-2, the rest of the half for a 12-4 halftime lead. The margin was still eight after the team exchanged a pair of goals to start the third period, but Illinois Wesleyan scored eight of the next nine goals to put the contest away.

Nate Greenberg, Will Roberts and William Dorger each scored a pair for the Tigers, while Nick Winter and Bailey Marth each scored six for Illinois Wesleyan with Alex Doorenbos adding five. James Maibuecher scored three and assisted on six in the win.

Charlie Robson recorded 16 saves for the Tigers with Jack Diehm adding two. Illinois Wesleyan's Benigno Houser stopped nine DePauw shots and Will Harris added one save.

Joe Garvey led DePauw with eight ground balls, while J.C. Grabarek had seven for the Titans after winning 13 of 19 faceoffs. Max Bousky won 11 of 18.

Illinois Wesleyan held a 35-29 edge in ground balls and the Titans had 23 turnovers to DePauw's 25. The guests also outshot the Tigers, 70-45.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, March 24, with a Noon home game against Alma.
