Tigers Get First Win of Season

Greencastle, Ind. – DePauw held on for a 5-4 win over Earlham on Thursday, their first of the spring season.

Three matches went into three sets including the night's final flight at No. 1 singles. When the match was tied 4-4, Greg Frauenheim won his final two games to win his match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and secure DePauw a win.

Bryce McClanahan was another three set winner at No. 2 singles. After falling in set one, he cruised to a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Alex Bertolini picked up DePauw's other singles win at the No. 5 flight 6-3, 6-2. DePauw had close losses at No. 3 singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, No. 4 singles 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 and at No. 6 singles 0-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles, all three teams held a 4-3 advantage at one point. The No. 2 doubles team of Bertolini and Matthew Quammen took the next four games for an 8-3 win, and the No. 3 team of Sean Carroll and Alex Pintilie won 8-5.

At No. 1 doubles, Frauenheim and McClanahan fell 8-6 after a comeback by Vitalii Stadnyk and Vojislav Tatarevic.

DePauw moves to 1-5 with the win, while Earlham drops to 3-2. The Tigers return to action 11 a.m. Sunday when they host Northwestern Ohio.
