Tigers Open Spring Campaign with Loss to Division II Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Ind. – DePauw started their 2018 season on Thursday but suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Division II Indianapolis.

The Greyhounds are ranked 12th in Division II and are expected to defend their conference championship in the Great Valley Conference East Division. They won all nine games Thursday in straight sets.

In doubles play, Greg Frauenheim and Bryce McClanahan lost 8-4 in the No. 1 flight. Matthew Quammen and Alex Pintilie fell 8-1 at No. 2, and Sean Carroll and Alex Bertolini lost 8-5 at No. 3.

Pintilie fared the best in singles play as he took four games in the first set of his No. 3 match but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-0. McClanahan and Quammen each fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 4 respectively.

Frauenheim took a 6-0, 6-1 defeat in the top flight. Michael Kolbus fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Bertolini lost 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 6 flight.

With a 5-4 loss to Marian in the fall, the Tigers now stand at 0-2 on the year. Next, they will travel to Chicago on Feb. 16.
