Tigers Fall to Marian, 5-4

Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Marian took two of three doubles matches and split the six singles contests to take a 5-4 win over DePauw at the Blackstock Courts. DePauw dropped to 0-1, while the Knights improved to 6-1.

DePauw's lone doubles win came at the number-one spot where Greg Frauenheim and Bryce McClanahan defeated Nathan Bogle and Ian Deiters by an 8-4 score. Marian's number-two doubles team of Noah Roberts and Alex Wittenbaum were 8-4 winners over Alec Gretencord and Taiga Tamura and the Knights' third-doubles tandem of Turner Lesnick and Nicholas Marroquin took an 8-5 victory over Jose Bonilla and Daniel Kinas.

In singles competition, DePauw's wins came from Frauenheim over Bogle by a 6-1, 7-5 score at number one, Tamura's 4-6, 7-5, 2-1, retired victory over Wittenbaum at fourth singles and Michael Kolbus' sixth singles win over Lesnick by a 6-4, 6-2 score.

Marian's singles wins came from Deiters at the second spot with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over McClanahan, Roberts' with a 6-4, 0-1, retired third-singles victory over Gretencord and Marroquin's 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Kinas at sixth singles.

DePauw competes in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Singles and Doubles Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., Sept. 29-Oct. 1
