No. 36 Coe Narrowly Gets By Tigers

Greencastle, Ind. – Fresh off a road trip from Wisconsin, the Tigers were greeted back home by No. 31 Coe, who defeated DePauw 5-4 on Sunday.

DePauw won three singles flights, while the No. 3 doubles team of Nate Wallace and Harold Martin gave DePauw their only doubles win after an 8-5 victory.

The No. 1 doubles team of Patrick Farrell and John Daseke strung together three late games but could not overcome a 7-2 hole, falling 8-5. Dan Rodefeld and Matt Santen at the No. 2 position fell 8-2.

Rodefeld later squared off against the 32nd-ranked Brady Anderson, who defeated Rodefeld 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in the only three-set match of the day.

Santen had two long sets, fought from behind in the first and came out on top 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 2 flight. At No. 3 singles, Farrell went down with an injury and retired midway through the first set.

Wallace won at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3, and Harold Martin defeated the preseason ranked No. 48 Alex Bernt 7-5, 6-3. Lastly, Daseke fell at the No. 6 flight 6-0, 6-3.

DePauw falls to 5-9 overall, while Coe improves 20-4. The Tigers travel to Wabash on Wednesday to start North Coast Athletic Conference play.
