Men Collect Pair of Wins Over Denison and Wittenberg

The DePauw men's tennis team traveled to Ohio on Saturday and collected a pair of conference wins including a 5-4 win over Denison and an 8-1 win over Wittenberg.

Petar Barcot got the clinching win against Denison taking a 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 victory at No. 4.

DePauw had to fight from behind after winning just one doubles match as the No. 2 team of Nate Wallace and Harold Martin won 8-3. Another highlight was Dan Rodefeld's 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win at No. 1.

Wallace and Martin then came through in singles play with Wallace winning at the No. 5 spot 6-3, 6-2 and Martin winning 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

Entering the match DePauw was ranked 10th in the region and Denison ninth.

Against Wittenberg, DePauw started off better by sweeping doubles play. Their only loss came at No. 1 where Rodefeld could not pull off a late 10-game pro set 0-6, 6-2, 10-7.

DePauw won the rest in straight sets. At No. 2 Matt Santen won 6-1, 6-1; at No. 3 Greg Frauenheim won 6-4, 6-2; at No. 4 Wallace won 6-3, 6-0; at No. 5 Martin won 6-0, 6-1; and at No. 6 Alex Bertolini collected a 6-1, 6-0 win.

DePauw now sits at 8-9 overall and 3-0 in the west division. They will travel to Franklin on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
