Tigers Improve to 3-1 with Win over Hanover

Greencastle, Ind. - With wind chills in the teens at Reavis Stadium, DePauw got off to a hot start with three goals in the opening 11 minutes on the way to a 4-2 win over Hanover. the Tigers improved to 3-1 with their third straight win, while the Panthers dropped to 1-5.

Steen Jorgensen got the scoring underway midway through the first on an assist from Ben Sherman before Adam Bridges made it 2-0 with Matthew Dauw's assist. Jorgensen's second goal, with 4:52 remaining in the opening stanza, came off a pass from Sam Alkema and pushed the lead to 3-0.

The score stayed that way until Hanover's Brocker Warner broke the ice with 4:14 left in the half. Lewis Anderews took advantage on a man-up opportunity with William Dorger's assist to make it 4-1 with 3:01 left in the third. Hanover closed out the scoring with 37 seconds left in the third on Al Alessia's score.

DePauw outshot Hanover, 40-23, and held a 45-18 advantage in ground balls. Joe Garvey won seven of the nine faceoffs for the Tigers. 

Bridges and Jack Gomez each had five ground balls, while Donny Bleifuss caused six turnovers. Warner and Alessia each had three ground balls for the Panthers.

DePauw's Charlie Robson totaled 11 saves including five in the fourth period with Hanover's Noah Dubrava finishing with 21 stops. 

DePauw opens North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 18, with a 1 p.m. game at Kenyon.
