Rodefeld Wins at No. 1 Singles as Tigers Lose 8-1 to No. 5 Chicago

Greencastle, Ind. -- Dan Rodefeld picked up the lone Tiger win and knocked off the 22nd-ranked Nicolas Chua in an abbreviated three sets as DePauw lost 8-1 to No. 5 Chicago on Sunday.

Rodefeld defeated Chua 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-3. The two played a 10-point third set since Chicago had already picked up the team win.

At No. 3 singles, Matt Santen tried to push his match to a third set but fell just short, falling in a second set tiebreaker and losing the match 6-0, 7-6 (7-3). At the No. 5 flight, Petar Barcot was able to push his opponent to three sets but couldn't complete the rally at 4-6, 6-2, 10-3.

The Tigers lost in straight sets through the rest of the match. Each doubles team lost 8-3 as Chicago put the Tigers in an early 3-0 hole.

Patrick Farrell lost at No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-3. Greg Frauenheim lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and Matthew Quammen fell 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 6 flight.

The Tigers fall to 1-2 on the year. They travel to the University of Indianapolis on Tuesday.
