Box Score Springfield, Ohio -- An even 7-7 second half could not undo a 10-2 first half as the women's lacrosse team fell 17-9 in their regular season finale against Wittenberg on Saturday.
DePauw finishes the year at 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while Wittenberg moves to 12-3 overall and sits second in the NCAC heading into tournament play.
Wittenberg scored the game's first eight goals before Emilye Denny put DePauw on the board with 12:45 remaining in the first half. Denny scored twice more in the second half to lead DePauw with three goals.
Taylor Summers added a pair of goals herself on two shots. Erica Rapelje, Madi Lozanoski, Elizabeth McCracken and Abby Snively also got into the scoring column. The senior McCracken picked up a team-high two assists.
Liz Hawkins made nine saves in net. Wittenberg won the draw control battle 16-12, outshot DePauw 36-20 and had more ground balls at 21-19.
