Tigers Begin NCAC Tourney With 5-0 Win

Granville, Ohio -- The men's tennis team started the NCAC Tournament Tennis Championship Friday at Denison with a 5-0 win over Ohio Wesleyan in the quarterfinals.

The No. 33 Tigers swept doubles competition and won at No. 3 and No. 5 singles before the match was called.

Alec Kaczkowski and Dan Rodefeld defeated Shouta Fukamachi and Jack Hibbard at No. 1 doubles 8-3. Patrick Farrell and John Daseke won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles over Felipe Duarte and Jacob Volbers. Lastly, at No. 3 doubles Harold Martin and Nate Wallace beat Pako Alevizopoulos and Jakraraj Rungaseng 8-2.

Kaczkowski won at No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1, and Greg Frauenheim won at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-1. The remaining matches were left unfinished.

The Tigers, who are seeded second in the tournament, advance to Saturday's semifinal round at 11 a.m. where they'll face No. 3 seed Denison, who defeated No. 6 seed Allegheny 5-0.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 seeded Kenyon defeated No. 8 seeded Wooster 5-1, and No. 4 seeded Oberlin defeated No. 5 seeded Wabash 5-2.
