Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - Denison scored thee goals in the opening 1:19 and never trailed on the way to a 17-6 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 5-10 overall and 3-4 in the NCAC, while the Big Red improved to 10-5 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
Lizzy Pellicane, Reid Hirschey and Leah Israel gave the Big Red the quick 3-0 lead before Taylor Summers nailed a free position shot at the 25:15 mark. Denison, however, scored nine straight before DePauw's Elizabeth McCracken made it 12-2 with 3:47 left in the half. Hirschey scored just 45 seconds into the second half and the Big Red outscored the Tigers, 5-4, over the final 30 minutes for the win.
McCracken and Summers each scored two for the Tigers, while McCracken assisted on two. Hirschey, Pellicane, Israel and Carol Allen each scored three for the Big Red with Claire Ludlow and Israel each assisting on a pair.
Liz Hawkins recorded four saves in goal for the Tigers, while Becca Jones had five in the first half for Denison.
Denison outshot DePauw 27-15 and held a 27-16 edge in ground balls. The Big Red also held a 13-12 advantage in draw controls with DePauw totaling 18 assists to Denison's 15.
DePauw travels to Wittenberg on Saturday, April 30, for a 1 p.m. contest.
